About

A beauty desk that reads the label first

Berry Edit is an independent editorial site about skincare, makeup, body care, and hair and fragrance. It is edited by The Berry Edit desk — a small group of writers who got tired of beauty coverage that starts with the packaging and ends with a discount code.

Our method is deliberately unglamorous. Every review on this site starts with the published ingredient list (the INCI), the brand's own usage instructions, and the concentration the brand actually discloses. Then we look at the price — including the less glamorous number, price per gram, which makes a $14 serum and a $42 serum directly comparable. Marketing claims come last, if they come in at all.

We don't run a laboratory and we don't pretend otherwise. Where a brand or an independent lab has published measurements — pH windows, SPF test results, stability data — we quote them and say where they came from. Where something can't be verified, we say that too. You will never read a "we tested this for 40 hours" claim on this site, because we didn't.

The site covers four edits: Skincare, Makeup, Body & Bath, and Hair & Fragrance. Around a quarter of our entries are hands-on comparisons with specific picks; the rest are guides that exist whether or not you buy anything.
